How we operate

The Centre is open to all White City residents and wider community members. As a public building and in line with our Constitution, access is given to all regardless of age, disability, race/ethnicity, sex/gender, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, religion or belief. All bookings and use of the Centre must be in line with this commitment to equal access as far as it fits with the aims and purposes of their activity. Any booking for a specific group must not limit the ability of other individuals and groups to use the Centre.

The Centre is self-funding, with running costs covered by room and office bookings. This makes it essential that bookings are paid in full and promptly on invoicing. The Centre provides community, non-profit/charity and commercial rates for bookings - evidence of local residence, non-profit/charity status may be required for reductions.

Booking arrangements

The Centre is primarily intended to provide space and activities for local residents. It may be booked for private events and for commercial purposes but, as a local asset, priority is given to activities that primarily benefit residents and the local community. The Centre has many regular charitable/public service bookings; therefore requests may be limited by pre-existing bookings and so only some dates may be confirmed.

If there is a question over whether a booking request is suitable for the Centre, it will be taken to the Committee to decide. The Committee reserves the right to request further information and to make enquiries about organisations/those who are booking before confirming a booking or agreeing that the community/non-profit rate applies.

If there is a proposal that a booking should be hosted for free, it will be taken to the Committee to decide. The Committee will make its decision on the basis:

~ that those organising/running the event/activities do not have funding;

~ that the event/activities are for the benefit of the wider community; or

~ that the event/activities are for a group which is under-served.

The offices at the Centre are rented out through a separate contract with LBHF. The licence with LBHF for the White City Community Centre can be viewed on request.
